Using Groundhog Day formula, Lt. Col. Bill Cage (star by Tom Cruise) live the same day every time he died in the war between human and an alien (known as mimics). From a worker in PR department, Cage learning how to defeat the alien by himself until one day he met Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (play by Emily Blunt). Rita ask him to met her when he wake up.
Rita then explain that she also has the same power as him before she nearly died in a war and have blood transfer, the power is gone after that. Rita told him everything she knew about the time loop and started to train with him. Days by days, they getting stronger to defeat the enemy and save the human race.

Tom Cruise as Lt. Col. Bill Cage. Cage is never going to war before in his life, he is forced by his superior to go to one! He died instantly (killed by Alpha mimics) and starting the time loop where he relive the same day everyday.[/caption]I am not fond of Tom Cruise movie. The only one I enjoyed is Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol - and here is the second movie of Tom Cruise I really appreciated and maybe it is gonna be the best sci-fi movie this year! Tom Cruise as Cage is a unique and interesting character to watch, he is not a soldier but a PR person, who does nothing but promote people to come and joining the war. He is forced to go to a war with Mimics (the alien) and he is definitely a rookie, he do not know how to operate his weapon and he is just lucky to kill one alpha mimics and stuck in time loops.
However, he try his best to save everyone. He try his best to using the time loops as his advantage and he is a survival. He learned something new everyday, he is changing from a rookie to a warrior! We root for him, we want him to win and survive the war, we want him to save everyone.

Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt is the main character in the film. Emily Blunt as Rita have the same power as Cage (Cruise) in the war before this one![/caption]The progress of the film is naturally flowing as Cage learn more about his weapon and ability. The information about the time loop also given in appropriate time and moment, not too much and not too little - giving the audience full pictures on what going on?
The setting at the beach is giving audience the full pictures of Cage transformation from rookie to a warrior who wanted to save everyone, back to heartless human who aim just to kill the alien and be done with the war. The mimics aka the alien is in full computer effects (CGI) but it really work really well with the setting and the war!

The J squad in Edge of Tomorrow movie. Cage who forced to join the war is a rookie in J squad. [/caption]Biggest compliment must be given to the incredible comedy install in the movie. It is smart, clever and spot on! Tom Cruise did play a great role in this one.
The only things that i dislike is the least action scene from Rita (play by Emily Blunt), the story focus on Tom Cruise character making the spotlight on him and push aside his co-star to shine. She is the warrior at the start of the film, so I expect some action from her but nothing. Should play more active role.

Edge Of Tomorrow film; best sci-fi movie in 2014. For now, it is![/caption] Without a doubt, the best sci-fi movie out recently. Not an easy one to beat!
